Well it appears that the magical price balancing code didn't work as planned, or people found a very good way to exploit it. Prices were getting ridiculous and I had anticipated ANET would do something to fix things, and they have. Sucks for the guys stocking up on stuff but you had to see it coming right

It's unfortunate that in fixing things they let some early birds get the worm. Ectos for a few hundred, I would certainly have purchased many hundreds if i had of been there. So a few people are going to get rich, some are going to get poor (relatively). At least something was done, good job. Nice step, auction house.

it was a temporary fix for a permenant problem...Superior Monk Runes will be back up at 60plat in under a week....Black Dye will be back up to 30 plat...things like Major vigors which normally go for reasonable prices(under 10 plat) are gonna jump to 20 plat...it didn't solve anything other than your immediate need to see rune prices down in the hundreds....a week from now the same problems will exist in the economy.

NOW... if ANetMart will resupply the merchants (at least) twice a week (and prevent uber-tanking of the prices), we'll have us an economy.

Sweet.

They do listen.

ANET will probably increase drops and everyone who is hording will end up with a bunch of crap in their storage. Not to say that Ecto at that price wouldn't have been nice to get. Everyone asked for a fix and there it is.

Stop complaining or they may fix it again and everyone will be screwed.

This makes me feel like going back to Anarchy Online. They wouldnt have done such a major mistake like Anet. Or was it more lazyness and money/time saving? Because it would have cost them some time to set good individual prices.

The fact that none of Anet replies to this says all.

The economy will stabilize over time. Some people will make out and have lots of cash, but what can they really buy at a certain point in the game?

This update will be good for the overall community.

If ANet is indeed restocking the traders slowly, then thats a good sign, because people who continue to horde will end up losing out greatly. If they do sell, then it will just bring down prices to the equilibrium faster (and the horders would actually save their stock from devaluing too much). I think this is only part of the solution though. If they want to fix up the economy more, they need to get rid of gold. Too much gold was generated when people were farming for ecto in the previous patches. They probably make 30k gold before 1 ecto would drop. They should make some NPC that crafts ecto for 10k gold, and make ecto drops rarer. That way gold will be drained from the economy very quickly. FoW armor isn't a gold sink because in the process of obtaining the ecto and shards, massive amounts of gold is generated (much more than the 15k per armor piece). Gold just changes hands from people who want the FoW armor to people who don't want it but have ecto to sell. If Ecto prices are set and an unlimited supply can be brought, then about 2 million gold would be drained per Fissure set.

The funniest thing to me about this whole mess is, people refuse to SAVE what gold they come into contact with, and spend it on armor, dye, and whatever else the can justify spending their gold on, then whine like bitches.

YOU'RE DOING IT TO YOURSELF. STOP DELUDING YOURSELF. LMFGDAO!

Default Well this is just stoopid....

I have been trying to buy a Superior Rune of Healing for the last half an hour.
It *PoPs* up at the trader and when you request a quote it says sorry just sold out. I have been clicking as fast as I can. My hand and wrist are numb from it.

If we see it in the window we should be able to buy it. This is way frustrating!

How does not saving gold have anything to do with this? The complaint is that they were not online at the right time to buy the stuff. Some people are walking around showing the trade screen with all slots full of 250 ecto... Everybody is saving gold but stuff keeps getting more and more inflated.

teeeheee ... yeppers ... Anet reset the economy and in turn made thousands of people millions of dollars. A guildie told me he was online when it happened and ecto started at 800. 8 f-ckin hundred lol. Sold out within half an hour. I went and most sup runes are sold out too. Now ecto is up around 9 plat upon limited availablity ... god i love this ... its so funny ... and inflation will follow again but maybe not as fast as last time. Then again ... I'm not holding onto my sup monks for nothing teehee

Lets think about this for a second....We were all asking for the traders to become more viable. Anet did that. All of you people who say the idea to reset prices was the dumbest thing they could have done, think about what you would have done. Anet is not perfect. While I agree that it would have been better to average all of the realm's prices....would you have forseen such a problem with hoarders? If you say yes please remember a little basic psychology lesson in something called "hindsight bias". The update is a great one that will eventually fix the economy. The fact that it generated billions of gp is a drawback, but I think Anet is going to take care of us. All of you people who are quitting over this need to take a chill pill because you have some serious patience problems. Wait a week and watch the prices stabilize.

Exactly! Why not just do away with the waw system all together?
